Discover the Z boson

Type Excursion (Interactive Presentation)
{:title=>"Description"} Students will use the experimental data collected by the ATLAS experiment at CERN to “discover” invisible particles and calculate their mass. For this purpose they will identify different lepton types and use Einstein’s famous equation for the equivalence of mass and energy. They will also us vector addition to add the momenta of several particles which are the decay products of the invisi...

This sounds like an incredibly engaging and educational project! The practical application of real-world data from CERN is fantastic. Using Einstein's equation and vector addition to "discover" invisible particles and calculate their mass is a brilliant way to bring complex physics concepts to life for students. It reminds me a bit of the clever ways people figure out game mechanics in Eaglercraft, piecing together clues to understand the hidden rules. T
